When you’re packing for a trip, the fabric choice usually matters just as much as the style. We’ve all had that experience where a cute outfit ends up being a bit too heavy or sticky for the humid weather. Staying comfortable (while being stylish) makes a big difference in how much you actually enjoy your time away.

When it comes down to it, picking the right fabrics is really about making sure your clothes work in harmony with the weather rather than fighting against it. We’ve all been there, distracted from a beautiful view or a good meal because we're feeling too hot or restricted in what we’re wearing.

At Reistor, we always recommend choosing comfort first, especially for resort getaways. That’s why, we’ve put together a list of the fabrics we rely on most so that you can pick your choice for your next vacation. These are the ones that let your skin breathe and keep things easy and stylish while you're relaxing.

100% Hemp: The Reliable Choice

We consider hemp our hero fabric for a few practical reasons, and it is our debut fabric as well. First, hemp fabric is incredibly eco-friendly, even more so than cotton, which feels good to support. It’s light and naturally breathable, but what we really like is how it holds up. It actually gets softer with every wash, so the more you wear it, the better it feels.

Hemp fabric has a classic, premium look that works well and looks quite luxurious for a resort setting. We’ve used this fabric to design matching sets, jumpsuits, and simple shirts that stay crisp and cool throughout the day, especially on vacation.

100% Cotton (and Organic Cotton)

Cotton is a staple for a reason. It’s soft, light, and does a great job of wicking moisture away, which is pretty much essential on vacation. We use both 100% cotton and organic cotton in our outfits to design a range of versatile styles that you can wear on repeat.

Whether you're out for a walk, hanging out with friends, or grabbing lunch, cotton is the one fabric that keeps you feeling fresh and always ready-to-go. We’ve designed everything from cropped shirts and button-downs to easy dresses in this range. It’s the kind of fabric you can put on in the morning and not really think about for the rest of the day.

Eco-Friendly Modal: The Travel Essential

If you’re looking for something with a bit of stretch, our modal blend (95% modal and 5% spandex) is a great option. It’s very soft, buttery smooth, and has a silky feel that’s perfect for travel days or just lounging around the resort.

Since it’s so flexible, it works well for wide-leg pants, essential tees, relaxed-fit tees, shorts, maxis, and short dresses. It’s the kind of material that feels so effortless to slip into, making it perfect for long flights, road trips, lounging, or just spending a quiet weekend away.

Linen: For Day-to-Night Ease

Linen is a classic for vacation, mostly because it handles heat so well. It has a relaxed look that fits right in at a resort, but it’s also easy to dress up. We have a variety of tops, sets, and dresses in linen because they are so versatile.

You can wear a linen set for a casual morning walk or brunch by the bay, and dress up the same outfit with statement accessories and footwear for dinner later. It even works for everyday wear or the office once you’re back home. It’s one of those fabrics that stays useful in your everyday wardrobe long after the vacation is over.

BembergTM: A Sustainable Alternative

This one is a bit different. BembergTM isn't a traditional fiber like cotton or hemp; it’s a sustainable material made from cotton linter. We use it to craft flowy dresses because it has a nice sheen and a smooth drape with the perfect silky texture, but it’s much more breathable than synthetic satins and crepe.

It’s a good choice for romantic getaways or resort parties where you want something a bit more chic and elevated, but eco-friendly. We’ve made several tiered and flowy dresses in florals and stripes using this material. It looks extremely stunning when you style it, and also feels light and comfy enough for a warm evening. If you’re looking forward to a dinner date on a romantic getaway,  or there’s a special event at the resort, a BembergTM floral dress is your best bet!

Summing it up:

Choosing the right fabrics is really about understanding the weather and how you want to feel throughout the day. When your clothes stay light, breathable, and comfortable, everything else feels easier. You can stay present, move freely, and enjoy your special vacation moments without thinking twice about what you’re wearing. We hope these little fabric insights make packing simpler, so you can settle into your getaway feeling relaxed, comfortable, and completely at ease.
